A funny thing with putting dates on work, I've always recorded the dates for each piece, and when I arranged my book I purposely put everything in exact chronological order. So for me, reading through my book is like a tour through my life.
I remember when assembling the book, I had to chuckle that this piece SIMPLICITY was saying I'd like those "childhood problems / over the ones I have now"... but from the perspective of today, looking back, I was barely out of my childhood when I wrote it. No spouse, no child, no mortgage, part time job, still in school. I wonder what "big" problems I thought I had then? Ha!
But that's probably not fair, because 1) when I'm 100 I'll probably look back and think the troubles I have TODAY are insignificant. And, 2) most of my poems are not strongly autobiographical. I wasn't really talking about the problems *I* had at that moment, it's more of a general comment on life. :)

Ha, not a clever reference, that is just the date it was written! Yes, it was one of my first pieces, and yes I'm officially old!
