Last One Standing
It started out as 6 of us, 5 sisters and a brother.
All of us sharing the same Father and Mother.
In the Hen House, we lay, ready and waiting to hatch.
Then one day the Farmer came by, suddenly we were snatched.
Parcelled up in cardboard boxes, individually we lay.
No warmth from Mother to see us through, we would not hatch one day.
We were sent away the same day to a Supermarket store.
Sold to Mrs Average and her husband to make omelettes and more.
Now I sit here on my own waiting to know my fate.
I am the last one standing and I sit here waiting to be ate.
I recall my father and my mother, my siblings too.
I recall the beautiful sound of my Father as he welcomed the morning with a
