The Famous Poet Wins! What Poets Believe.

If you could become a worldwide famous poet and make millions of dollars for the words you write, would you? Or would you choose to write only for the love of poetry without recognition or money?

Most professionals are compensated for the time, dedication, skill, and hard work they put into their craft, so it’s no surprise 51% of poets would choose to be rich and famous for their words and work, based off our recent poll on social media.

Indeed, there is much time, effort, practice, expertise, thought, and passion required to create, produce, or perform a poem that satisfies and fulfills the masses. Poets, just like all other artists, do not create masterpieces for money or fame, but are fairly rewarded by those who value, understand, and appreciate their work.

Money can be a burden for many people from all over the world. And despite our efforts to work hard, we can find ourselves sometimes easily overwhelmed and financially strained when trying to keep up. Opportunities such as becoming a professional or famous poet can help in providing not only a dream but also the freedom to help someone else achieve theirs as well.

Through one poet’s success or several, many more can prosper and succeed, enabling us to provide an abundance of resources and other important necessities pertinent to any person’s journey to success, such as books, programs, schools, computers, tablets, teachers, information, connections, and much more.

In addition to this, fame can provide recognition and direction, giving many amateurs or beginners something to look up to. No longer will they have to live in the shadows or live ashamed of calling themselves a poet. Instead, they will be proud to stand up, and one day say to the world; I too, identify as a poet.

Though money and fame can often be used negatively and associated with negative behaviors, when used correctly and used for the right reasons, much can be accomplished and achieved for all.

But money and fame aren’t the biggest influences in everyone’s life, with at least 49% of poets choosing to write solely for the love if it, with no recognition or money involved. And we can honestly say that this is completely understandable and normal. Fame and money often come with huge responsibilities that are long-term and life changing. Not everyone wants these mandatory obligations. Not everyone wants to live with their life under a microscope. The attention and responsibility can easily become overwhelming for those who cringe at the thought of such extreme exposure!

Likewise, we must remember that there are many poets in the world who only write to express their feelings and emotions in which poetry allows these individuals to be free and open - even providing an escape. Its therapeutic nature helps them navigate life in times of darkness and leads them to hope when all doors have been closed. Simply put, in this life there are some things that our hearts feel money cannot buy, and for some, one of them is poetry.

We are thankful to all the awesome poets who participated in this insightful poll and appreciate everyone who took time to share their thoughts and feedback! We are inspired by your words and hope we can all continue to come together and learn more about one another through the power of poetry.
