They lay open and bleeding Sinew and bone exposed to the sun Fleshly putrid stench elevating Hardly recognizable as someone’s son Sacrificed on the alter of battle Congregating body parts with horrible eyes Staring aimlessly and deceased Fixed on their last deathly cries Participants in the ritual of war Laid about this podium of death Worshiping in the eerie daylight Seeking sermons for one last breath  Let us sing praises in dark silence  Or will I sing this death song alone For all the souls who have gathered here Who worship motionless, next to my own

I think I will write a poem Because I believe that I can Soliloquist of course,  I know what I am Perhaps, some would inquire And respond euphemistically I would certainly give it my all Maybe too optimistically But then, peradventure, I should Sanguinarily express  My disdain for the truth And baby, that red dress! Oh, what does it suffice? Whether truth be truth indeed Or lies, envelope please, To reciprocate the need And who will even notice A little hue at the end of a peck Or posture inclined Isn’t it all circumspect? Reassurance is all that I lack For poetic animosity Architecture certain to befuddle  With my dignified atrocity So, when I pursue civilization With my eloquence of written word Or my pride and manifest abilities, None, would think it absurd Oh, heavens to purgatory  What has been done to society? As I am on the late night news And they are checking me for sobriety Officer! It was only an existential poem  As I, reverently, tried to explain But, that dumb cop, the one I punched Told me it was rather plain "Arrest him, not me!"

What should I say of Eden? It is a distant paradise The road back is demolished and buried beneath our sin What should I say of Eden? My house was burned down What should I say of the garden? It is a picture on the wall We look at it every night as prayers are offered up What should I say of the garden? My friend was mugged and shot What should I say of the fruit? It is as chocolate cake Children have eaten it all and are sick to their stomach What should I say of the fruit? My neighbor died of starvation What should I say of mankind? He longs for a better paradise She dreams of it every night and cries lying in her bed What should I say of mankind? I have a tendency to lie to myself.

Chasing through the night And into the morning light Your dreams are magically told ___ And with sleepless horn You chase your unicorn As great adventures unfold  ___ Fly from mountains high Into a textured sky On wings born to take you there ___ Run through grassy plains Until laughter remains The only thing you can bear ___ Then quietly stop To catch stars that drop Like wishes wonderfully born ___ Remember them all The next time you recall Your love for the unicorn

May I with intent purchase you the sun And with song cause the evening display love’s melody is shared by more than one And neither would I change from day to day Would the brightest of morn come readily Should compassion outlast its early light For even in the day that comes steadily I forever find your presence my delight So in my longing to convince your heart And my lack of these elements persuade All my desires, I desire to impart Until In you heaven and earth are made Then the sun til evening shall be ours And this love song revealed among the stars

Tears bled like a gaping wound And my eyes, a blue lagoon, Held none of them from the tide My soul, an ocean returned empty My cries, like wild birds at night, And my agony, a descending light, Found no mercy in its blackness My soul, the last sound before sleep Thoughts conspire like a lunatic’s dream And my desire, a harmonious scream, Evaded even simple complexities My soul, a melody of unusual sounds Heart beats, like whispers in a vacant hotel And my loneliness, a midnight bell, Heard only a single retarded throb My soul, a vortex of hidden rooms Darling, like white birds in spring And my Own, a picnic bring, Sit beside me and hold a silver candle My absent soul, a path well traveled

Words spoken softy through your eyes Quiet my breath, my smile, and my heart By your gentle ways, words are received And planted deep with in my earth Bringing forth a harvest of desirable fruit Nurtured by softened mercies and love Your kisses whisper passionately to my lips Pleasantly offering the sweet taste of living  As you gather them to me in abundant affection When I would be filled and enlightened by just one I wait in driven anticipation for the moment  When the sun is made common by your touch Your presence is felt like a stirred breeze  That passes through a fragrant garden  Surveying every intricate crevasse of my body Now scented by your feminine perfume I turn to feel and catch every passing thrust As I inhale the aroma with a complete breath But alas, you have passed me into the evening As the brilliant stars race across the night fields I sit and wonder at the greatness of a teardrop sky Vast black satin emptiness full of silvery kisses And remember my heart embraced by your presence While falling asleep next to a whisper of your name

Run to your enchantments Of languid polarized madness Lay beside insipidly hued oceans Wearing naked and tasteless appetites For your mothers provide the boundaries Of restless complex ambiguities That are deep forests of green reflections Made blackened in the shadows Of your self indulgent soliloquies As you chase golden winged butterflies In a yellow glistening moon Until wildly they bash against The rocks of your slight indifference In the darkness, in the blackness In the light of your demented considerations No fire mounted candles to see your path Nor heart to follow incessantly In the bosom of your latent infectious intentions Run to the color of tortured blue eyes My woman child My fair lunatic Forever searching for outstretched wings To fly To glide upon the wind of benevolent sorrows Forever encapsulated in the arms Of the Darkangel that hears your anguished cries And to find rest in the silken feathers of death With love in spiritual awakening Eternally released from entrapped boundaries Of your mother's idealistic condolences As two shadows become an aberration Of moanful singularity

He was not a person of notable continuity Yet he wrote poems given to promiscuity With his prose displayed rather feebly, He embarked to write rather inconceivably ___ Other poets displayed nothing but scorn for this illiterate who was always forlorn Who dared write the intent of his heart with words given to despicable remark ___ To the formalist he was a poor excuse, and for free verse he was more a recluse Yet with persistence he continued to write until someone murdered him during the night ___ It has been a thousand years to the day Did you know what I heard someone say? That his poems were being read in the street, and people were crying, standing to their feet ___ His words somehow had found their way into the libraries and theaters of the day For every literate who could read a book, understood the language they mistook ___ His generation thought him quite deranged with his words so backward and badly arranged And now, his prose was raising the dead Yes, leaning against walls banging their head ___ All these skeletons were breaking their bones, dead poets making their unbelievable moans for this dead “artist” who’d become the rave., Me, I just turned over, and over, in my grave

The deep reflection of a blue-green lake  captures soft images from a gentle rain,  As from profound illusions I awake ___ Ripples touch the shore for a cool wind’s sake Tapping rhythm fingers against my brain, the deep reflection of a blue-green lake  ___ Fish dash and sparkle in currents they make I consider reasons for their campaign as from profound illusions I awake ___ Eagles fall down for a bounty to take beneath the surface and above again, the deep reflection of a blue-green lake  ___ I now understand there is no mistake, that serenity should have its pain,  as from profound illusions I awake ___ Many hours I watch, many hours I ache, and from this beauty and death I retain the deep reflection of a blue-green lake,  as from profound illusions I awake
