People ask me how I am this unique. They sound like it’s difficult, even impossible. The truth is, I never feel the need to blend in, follow, or adapt. So they start noticing the difference. I make no effort.
Poet Bio
- Nitya Swaruba is a lover of words. She began writing poetry from late 2014. Hardly influenced or inspired, she discovered this passion over time. Her ability to observe and sense emotions feeds her ideas. Her first book of poems One Flew Over The Heart was published last year. Nitya is a copy editor from Pondicherry, India. She loves watching TV and movies. Her favorite thing to do is to contemplate—the place where she converses with her muse, the thing that lights her words. She is also passionate about nature photography, which at times she collaborates with her poetry.

Poetry is important to me because
Words have power to say what something is, could be, and never will; they obliterate stubborn lines between confusing reality, crucial desire, and fantasy unthinkable; wielding such power imposes responsibility—of never trying to redraw those lines, yet to never lie but write truth seldom told well. And to me… that’s poetry. I am happy and I love being able to do that.

Anybody who comes across my poetry will like it as it is quite simple and relatable. I write a lot about the world and people and all the unnecessary things that people unconsciously do. It would be a privilege if my words can get where they are meant to go.
