A single leaf
Is this the road map of life?
The thicker veins, the motorway, carrying its passengers to a better day.
Carrying the wine of life, giving blood but not in sacrifice.
The smaller veins are the "B" roads for sure.
They work all night and all day, smaller communities doing their thing.
Keeping capaliaries, arteries and veins open wide.
Keeping the motorways running fast.
Keeping the blood pumping around your body, until the last.
Scattered veins the soul of me,
Trails and runways a leaf on a tree.
Stretching fingers tales of age,
Leading quickly to the next stage.
A wrinkled heart. In time it will wilt and fade,
Turn brown with age, a forgotten yesterday.
But for now it thrives gathering many more,
Darkness now, as I close the outside world's door.
