My mind's eye looks inward
It sees things that I did not know existed
Feelings on my sleeve
Fears from my past
Future needs and desires
It is a fastenating picture
That my mind's eye sees
My mind's eye looks outward
It sees things that I did not know extsted
Creativity and inspiration
Caring of others
Commonality in us all
My mind's eye looks to the light
Love surrounding us
Life's thriving beauty
Laughter every where
A Life for a Life - R.M. Ullrich
I am a prisoner of my own creation
Trapped in a void between light and darkness
Try as I might to find a viable solution
I cannot escape the person I've become
A life for a life - the promise made in haste
Never knowing it would lay my soul to waste
So I remain trapped between the light and the darkness
Until the day Death comes to collect on my rashness
I cannot touch what lies beyond the door
Nor feel either the heat or cold that some suggest
Must live there far beyond what we can test
With the hard magiks of our meters, which move or tick
To tell us levels of what we know;
There is no Geiger counter to detect a human soul.
(The Interplay)
The interplay between in and out
make me see a different kind of life;
i am here while A Part of Me is there—
a sort of finitude lost in An infinite air!
