A walk through the garden, stood at the edge of time,
A changing vision I saw, as earth began to unwind.
Stand still the time, stand still the I never born,
Was a lush, beautiful garden, Adam and Eve perfectly formed.
“But God,” I asked, Such beauty nothing like it upon earth,
Why are humans so destructive, defacing everything of worth?
Amazing sunrises, sunsets upon the waters shores, clear streams,
All these things of beauty, all these things I could only dream.”
“Oh, my child life could have been perfect if I had been obeyed,
But when Eve and Adam ate the apple they could no longer stay.”
And God’s tears shed from heaven, making the earth as dark as night,
Lightning flashed, the echo of thunder roared, everything was set aright.
A walk through the garden, no longer on the edge of time,
But even now that beautiful paradise flits through my mind.
There is good in this world, but oh yes evil does live,
The devil whispers lies as with Eve, and I wonder what if?
