What's fun without trouble

I'm just a fish out of water, praying for my thirst to be quenched

I'm just a mermaid on an island, praying that a hero be sent

I'm just a merman out of his castle, my crown is still drenched

I feel so out of place, like the world is all against

I feel out of time,

I feel out of focus,

I feel lost yet clearly found ,

I feel a rush of emotions that even negativity can't surmount

But what's words with no conviction

What's promise with no commitment

What's actions that's aren't consistent

How do we know the difference

Between what's wrong and what's right

Between what's the truth and what's a lie

Without going through some sort of fight

An internal struggle, with you trying to capture the light

Gems go through a lot

But look at what was brought

Through the fire that lit my heart

I left behind the pain from the battles that I fought

Through the cuts that ran deep

The scars healed but the pain still creeps

Through the pressure that I substained

I wonder what exactly was it that my life had gained

This gemstone isn't a small rock though

I traded all my wealth for something more

I risked my health for something worth more

I dug dug deep into my core

And I found an Amber resting at its soul

I realized long ago people go through things in life

Questioning things about themselves

Reimagining those old dreams they have for themselves

In hope of finding something bigger than themselves

To grow a better appreciation for the things in life

To have a better appreciation for the ones in your life

The effect of it all is so bright

Like the sun's raining on your skin

Like the waters begging you to come in

See we're all just fish out of water

Looking for a river to flow in

Looking for an ocean to go in

Looking for something to belong in

And throughout our life

We may struggle to find our answers

Struggle to find our stone

But even though the world loves diamonds

Remember to love the amber that you own
