Spring break time to play,
Picnics, concerts, something every day.
Many will gather. Soldiers, sailors, bakers, astronauts,
Ready for a vacation doing anything they want.
The sun shines as we gather waiting for the curtain,
The excitement builds and there is one thing for certain,
We are all at peace and as the show starts,
Hands raised, peace had come, and it came from the heart

Duplo People
The children play with the Duplo people.
It is a fun and educational exercise for them.
They learn that people are different,
have different jobs and look at life differently.
Maybe adults ought to play with the Duplo people
and revisit the lessons they learned as children.

The toy soldiers stood together in full color,
Children even came with their father and mother,
They had to get together in their colorful way
They stood for respect and freedom and literacy today
They felt very strongly about their beliefs
If more poetry were in classrooms it would be a relief
Their kids beside them reminded them why,
this was so important, for them to try
people never took toy solders seriously,
Their passion burned bright fearlessly.
Purple and blue and red hats on,
they began to sing their freedom song.
They had a message to them a priority,
They stood as tall as they knew so orderly.
They stayed all day and came back again.
Marching their message, to those who stood watching them.
