There was a girl named Jewel.
Her sister was Jade.
And They were twins
With a mother so cruel.
This is a story
In which no one wins.
No prince
or fairy
To make the day
More merry.
The girls were young
With dreams like many.
But they chose art;
Bringing their visions
To the world’s reality.
A skill they chose to hone
A jem they chose to shine.
Oh, how they felt
When they met with greed.
The greed of their mother
For slips of green.
Their passion deemed worthless,
Happiness unnecessary.
All for the wish for money.
Time passed
And the two matured.
They wished for their own ways
Trying to get their mother to see
Just how much she’s hurting them.
But it had been decided
They both become something
To benefit their mother,
Whos blind
To the tears they cry.
The words that try
To tell their story
Of how much they want to die.
But none of that mattered
To the mother of two.
She wanted luxury.
A wad of paper
Cut and refined;
A green leaf to life.
With hands tied
And no more tears to cry,
The girls comply.
They’ve lost the fight.
Though people say
To choose their own path,
They can only shake their heads;
For these poor girls,
Only knowing how to obey
And keep their mouths at bay,
Have lived no other way.

Koda, this was amazing! It was very compelling from beginning to end and had a bit of mysteriousness to it that made you want to read until the end! Disheartening story. Thank you for sharing!
Very good, very intense, and I especially love: "This is a story / In which no one wins."
