Long ago and far away lived a man called Yesterday.
Always living life in the past, creeping slowly, never fast.
He does not have a big fine house, nor fancy car,
But always says he is gonna be a star.
I am gonna be rich, just wait and see, gonna have everything I want and need.
Years go by, low paying job, tiny apartment on the east side,
Still he walks everywhere, cause he does not have a ride.
Struggling from day to day, walking , his job really far.
But he always says he is gonna be a star.
I am gonna be rich, just wait and see, gonna have everything I want and need.
A woman he meets, they marry, move to a bigger place,
He has a car, a steady job, and a happy smile upon his face.
Their love is true, their love will last, they are happy, never war,
But he always tells her he is gonna be a star.
I am gonna be rich, just wait and see, gonna have everything we want and need.
Three children, two boys and a girl later, such a short time they were grown,
To his delight, a grandpaw he became after his girl had one of her own
He would hold her often, he would hold her tight, he would carry her to his daughters car,
But he always tells them he is gonna be a star.
An amazing amount of love and tears, surrounding the old mans bed,
And so many years, so many memories like turned pages in his head.
Life was good, life was great, but for peace he never had to look far,
But he always tells them he is gonna be a star.
I am gonna be rich just wait and see, gonna have everything we want and need.
He shone brightly for his family, maybe not a big fine house, nor a fancy car,
A tear escapes his eye, and another and another, He became a star.
I am gonna be rich just wait and see, gonna have everything we want and need.
So rich in love for his family, yes he had everything he wanted, and more than he would ever need.
He closed his eyes, drew his last breath, and through their tears they said,
We love you our bright, shiny star.
