Tree Oh! - A Chicago Christmas Story

“Tree Oh!” is a whimsical collection of rhyming narratives that begins with an intriguing twist on a beloved classic. This collection follows the life of Amy and all of the family’s seasonal misadventures. While the family struggles with deep poverty, the children are granted visions that guide them toward safety – and, the reader is given the great privilege of joining them along this journey.

T’was the night before Christmas...

Oops, that ain’t right.

This isn’t THAT poem,

Not by a fairly long sight.

But it is Christmas Eve,

That much is the same.

As for the rest, I’ll take the blame!

The unique coupling of heavy grief and harsh realities with the playful nature of rhythm and poetry creates a gripping and impressive piece of work which we at Realistic Poetry International are grateful and delighted to view. “Tree Oh – A Chicago Christmas Story” provides its audience with blended genre of poetry versus realism, adventure and fiction that, in turn, leaves much to be enjoyed for readers of many interests.

“ There to their left, nine ghosts in baseball caps

Were playing a game just as they passed.

From her pocket she pulled out her only prize

A foul ball Avery had caught and gave to her.

She showed happily it to the man

He whooped a silent whoop, as if he did understand

How much it meant to them,

these little fans. “ [sic]
