"NIGHT DRIVE"

I own—this night on

Swirling engine,

I will reborn on your parting lips, and

Could die by diving into your forgotten well.

A tale as old as love—reciting;

October’s windy night,

Is still crimsoning my ivory bones.

Mistaken constellation: carboned carefully curious case,

This unseen, illogical house of fire residing on water.

To begin—street was drunk and pink,

Those twin whisperers brewed raw platonic.

Past midnight—Cinderella, forgot her slippers behind,

White was Prince’s horse; wheels drove her close.

It is a first confession—hold your impression,

I grew over lens while your foot on fence.

That holy fool stirred steering aside, now she

Was amused when he plucked rose ruse.

A deep penetration into that slumber silence,

For He must be busy finding right sentence—then,

Mighty sharp tongue ploughed her sober heart’s sensation.

How His soft, yet strong hands fitted into hers;

I knew,

I knew all along, they were universally entwined.

Breathings were heavy, eyes fixed, street lamp and that ghost moon

Might not want to miss that Aphrodite’s forbidden fruit.

Oh, my muse! She clutched his left arm,

My love, he said, let me dip scarf’s corner into honey-dew

To ease this innocent bruise.

Her face rested on his ear-mole until he took the road not taken,

Their hearts were miles apart but dreamland world never fell hard.

This fragment of fragrant forever night,

Prince, dropped back Cinderella to house.

Back—looking through glass, her thoughts,

Alas! Night drive in that carriage and how did she

Found this distant mirage?

वहीं उसी वक़्त पर रुका है;
