The wooden stairs creaked as arthritic feet in worn leather shoes descended. A cane tapped the flat head nail heads as aged wood distended. Leaves fell from sweet gums and elder trees in colors blended. A breeze across Sad Sam's grey hair and cap a memory intended. The ghosts in the house watched from close to far. The darkness flowed through cracks and doors ajar. Halls of happiness and rooms of laughter no more. An old man remembers only the good of many morn. Sad Sam walked with a limp and pain. A wife and daughter with faces so plain. Hard work, trouble, and little gain. Sad Sam’s life appeared inane. The ghosts in the house watched from close to far. The darkness flowed through cracks and doors ajar. Halls of happiness and rooms of laughter no more. An old man remembers only the good of many morn. A day, a fire, and life changed. Two lives ended, one remained. A future bleak, memories contained. Sad Sam thought himself insane. The ghosts in the house watched from close to far. The darkness flowed through cracks and doors ajar. Halls of happiness and rooms of laughter no more. An old man remembers only the good of many morn. A prayer offered in distress. An answer given to address, Sad Sam’s plea, God impressed. Come home my child, Rest. The ghosts in the house watched from close to far. The glory flowed through streets and doors ajar. Halls of happiness and rooms of laughter many more. An old man comes home to family as if reborn.
