We uncover our wounds Exposing our wounds to air Words circulating into the atmosphere To be inhaled by another Or as dressings exert pressure Let pen on paper bear the same weight We learn to not bleed So we do not lose what is within us But to gain perspective To grow And to heal effectively by sharing with each other ©️MaddieA

The curtains resembled ivory nightgowns of two ladies from his past One he loved, the other he loved after the last The sunset glistened against the oriel window Of the facility he moved into after he became widowed But now he discovered company in the small things He recalled small moments when he glanced at his ring The wife he loved was a young bride at twenty three He envisioned her dancing in the rose garden by the tree Her smile gleamed childlike in a blue dress and full of glee Whereas the other wife was cautious towards life but nonetheless lovely Their love was much older but radiated brightly His memories twirled like the curtains in the wind Remembering times now and times then Oh, How things change when we least expect them to Oh, how our memories live in us and lead upon many avenues In his old age, he chose to live life over with the window slightly open Dancing with his memories of them ©️MaddieA

Daylight emits a fresh layer of paint onto his shoulders His golden skin blushes, permanently remembering its flattery Such crimson skin resembled one thousand poppy flowers Amongst a bed of verdant summertime grass and vining huckleberry His eyes sparkle like the reflection on the lake, as he remembers times much older Summertime is here, and he knew that she and him would bloom again ©️MaddieA

Let’s slip away For darkness clouds my mind To old peculiar towns That can’t identify our voices Let’s slip away For fear drives my soul Of going gray and never knowing Of love or making choices Let’s slip away To experience unease, Of life’s misfortunes and to Encounter altitudes far beyond our reach Let’s slip away Let’s dream You and I ©️MaddieA

Build me a house of stone And I’ll tell you that I already did For years I’ve spent time alone In a loft with two kids We grew, we wandered We bonded, we fought In thoughts, we all grew somber Through all the time we lost Knowing all we had was each other And a house of stone and rubble We all stuck together And loved one another Our hearts were torn For our lives were misshapen Knowing we were worn From a life of blaming Ask me about that house of stone That fell when we grew older We are all now misunderstood ones That never grew older We see our past with hope As a dreamer first discovers We wore a mask of cope Where pain longer hovers In my mind, I see that house of stone sometimes And drift back on the clock To the loft where the sun always shines And where the past always knocks ©️MaddieA

From the brink of it all, You were lovely A crannied wall of ceramic filled the doorway of that beautiful grin Pleasing and flawed, Devious and coy, You were in these times And for all times, I’d loved you fully @MaddieA
